CHILLIWACK, BRITISH COLUMBIA — Petcurean, manufacturer of premium pet food brands Go! Solutions®, Now Fresh®, Summit® and Gather®, announced April 26 an expansion of its Go! Solutions line to include a new functional cat food formula. The new Go! Solutions Hairball Control + Urinary Care Chicken Recipe with Grains targets two major health concerns in felines: hairballs and urinary health.

“Hairballs and urinary control are among the top concerns for cat owners,” said Natalie Williams, nutrition manager at Petcurean. “We also know that 88% of pet parents say that it’s important to take preventative measures to protect their pet’s health. With Go! Solutions Hairball Control + Urinary Care recipe for cats, we’re thrilled to offer a functional pet food solution that addresses these key concerns and helps to promote overall wellness for cats. And what better time to introduce this new recipe to Canadian cats than in recognition of National Hairball Awareness Day.”

Formulated in collaboration with board certified veterinary nutritionists, the new kibble diet can help control the occurrence of hairballs. It also discourages the formation of urinary struvite crystals, which are made up of ammonium, phosphate and magnesium. While low levels of struvite crystals are normal in cat urine, they can form stones in the urinary tract and cause health issues.

Go! Solutions Hairball Control + Urinary Care Chicken Recipe with Grains is formulated with fiber-rich miscanthus grass and psyllium husk to support the passage of swallowed fur through the digestive system, reducing hairballs. It is also formulated with L-tryptophan, which plays a role in the production of serotonin to reduce stress levels that can contribute to urinary health issues. The formula also touts controlled magnesium levels to help control urinary pH and encourage water intake in felines.

Petcurean’s latest Go! Solutions cat food builds upon the company’s continued expansion of functional pet foods. According to research from Packaged Facts, functional formulas remain popular with pet parents, as 66% of dog and cat owners claim they are willing to spend more on pet foods that offer health and wellness benefits. Additionally, functional treats are gaining traction, with 84% of dog owners expressing interest in purchasing these products.

In line with this research, Petcurean recently introduced Go! Solutions’ first functional dog treat —Benefit Chews — and a new limited-ingredient cat food formula — Sensitivities Limited Ingredient Grain-Free Salmon Recipe. In 2023, the brand also launched its first meal toppers — Go! Solutions Boosters — that provide targeted health benefits to dogs and cats.

“We are committed to helping pets live happy, healthy and long lives, and that involves continually innovating with new, functional recipes and science-backed solutions,” Williams said. “Our new products support our mission of creating superior-quality pet foods that meet consumer demand while ensuring that we deliver the taste that pets crave and the nutritional value that supports their overall health and wellbeing.”
