The FDA has warned distributors and consumers in several countries where the contaminated Midwestern Pet Foods, Inc. pet food products may have been distributed, as well as in the United States.
The Public Health Agency of Canada has ended its investigation after two brands of pig ear dog treats were linked to a total of 10 cases of Salmonella in humans.
The pet food company failed to test the vitamin premix it was supplied for safe levels, which caused several of its wet dog foods to contain 33 times the safe upper limit for vitamin D, according to the FDA.
