WASHINGTON — Sunshine Mills, Inc. on Aug. 24 issued a voluntary recall for 18 lots of its Nature’s Menu Real Chicken and Quail premium dog food for potential Salmonella contamination. The product was distributed to retail stores nationwide in two package sizes.

The company issued the recall after a 3-lb bag was collected and tested by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and came up positive for Salmonella. Although the foodborne pathogen may not be evenly distributed throughout lots of this select Nature’s Menu formula, Sunshine Mills is recalling 18 lots “out of an abundance of caution.”

The recall includes:

  • 3-lb bags of Nature’s Menu with Real Chicken and Quail with the following lot numbers:
    • TE1 20/April /2020
    • TE1 21/April/2020
    • TE1 22/April/2020
    • TE2 20/April/2020
    • TE2 21/April/2020
    • TE2 22/April/2020
    • TE3 20/April/2020
    • TE3 21/April/2020
    • TE3 22/April/2020
  • 13-lb bags of Nature’s Menu with Real Chicken and Quail with the following lot numbers:
    • TB1 20/April /2020
    • TB1 21/April/2020
    • TB1 22/April/2020
    • TB2 20/April/2020
    • TB2 21/April/2020
      TB2 22/April/2020
    • TB3 20/April/2020
    • TB3 21/April/2020
    • TB3 22/April/2020

Sunshine Mills reported no illnesses or complaints have been issued regarding these recalled products. No other Nature’s Menu products or lot numbers were included in the recall.
