LUTZ, FLA. — Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection will showcase its X2 Series of high-performing X-ray systems at this year’s Process Expo from Oct. 23 to 25 at McCormick Place in Chicago. With two X-ray systems currently in the X2 Series designed to enhance product safety, X-ray inspection is now accessible for all budgets, offering manufacturers software that is designed to last longer and perform better, according to Mettler-Toledo.

The design of the X2 Series helps enhance brand protection and product safety while also increasing product quality. Helping manufacturers meet food safety compliance requirements, the systems also deliver enhanced productivity and reliability with a smart industrial design.

“The X2 Series helps prevent product recalls with exceptional contamination detection capabilities that go beyond detecting just metal,” said Michael Pipe, head of market management, X-ray, at Mettler-Toledo. “The X-ray inspection technology inspects a wide range of contaminants, including glass, metal, mineral stone, calcified bone, dense plastic and rubber compounds while simultaneously completing a number of quality control and integrity checks. The X2 Series offers significant benefits both in-line and at end-of-line inspection by using innovative technology all designed for optimum performance and output.”

State-of-the-art ContamPlus™ software is an innovative inspection process which scans products for every kind of contaminant, not just the ones optimized during the initial automatic product setup. The automatic setup detects hard-to-find foreign bodies and rejects only the contaminated products, reducing production waste and protecting productivity.

“This is especially crucial for food and pet food manufacturers, where product integrity and completeness is key, as missing information or products can lead to costly recalls and, sometimes dangerous, results,” Pipe added.

ContamPlus™ facilitates new product setup with just a few passes and without the need for complicated programming or extensive training. Product details are stored and easily recalled for smooth and fast product changeovers to help minimize downtime and boost productivity.

“Every detail of the X2 Series technology is optimized to offer superior performance,” Pipe explained. “At the heart of the design is a new product inspection chamber and a revolutionary modular mechanical design which allows full frontal access to all the most common operations. It offers a range of new features to improve operations such as product handling, cleaning and service routines. The X2 Series’ range of standard length and height configurations is complemented by custom designs to allow full customization to meet customer specific needs.”

Mettler-Toledo will showcase its X2 series at Booth 2012 during Process Expo. In addition, Mettler-Toledo’s X36 X-ray inspection system will be featured in Process Expo’s Meat Production Line during the three-day show.
