PITTSBURGH — Bully Max, a performance dog food brand, announced in late December the launch of its new Puppy Chews, a supplement for growing dogs formulated to support immunity and gut health. The chews are intended for all breeds of dogs at least 7 weeks old.
According to the company, puppies require higher percentages of protein and fat in their diets than adult dogs to fuel growth and development. The chews are formulated with active ingredients colostrum, an organic mushroom blend, Tynagen™, and a probiotic blend that supports immunity.
Colostrum is a high-octane milk produced by mammals in the last few weeks of pregnancy. The ingredient can be used as a supplement for immune and gut health and can also have anti-inflammatory benefits.
The mushroom blend includes reishi, cordyceps, chaga, mesima, Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail, maitake, shiitake, blazei, poria, agarikon, suehirotake, oyster and true tinder mushrooms. The probiotic immunity blend includes Bifidobacterium animalis, Lactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Lactobacillus fermentum.
The first few inactive ingredients are barley flour, carob powder, carrot, coconut glycerin and flaxseed. Each chew offers at least 17% crude protein, 26% of crude fat, and at most 4% crude fiber. The soft-chew supplements are veterinarian-approved and formulated with all-natural ingredients, according to Bully Max.
Earlier this year, Bully Max introduced its Pro Series high-calorie dry dog food, which includes all-natural animal meat and delivers 600 calories per cup.
