Blue Buffalo, a widely available pet food and treat company owned by General Mills, has officially introduced its free Buddies mobile app, designed as a resource to help pet owners build better relationships with their feline and canine companions.

The app has several functionalities, including community networking, educational content, rewards, pet health management, and exclusive access to discounts. Blue Buffalo stated Buddies offers resources for “every step of pet parenthood,” including both functional and emotional guidance.

“Buddies is not just an app,” said Bethany Quam, group president of General Mills’ pet segment in the company’s presentation at Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference on Sept. 8. “It's a relationship centered on moments that matter to our pet parents, and it's another example of how we're strengthening our connected commerce capability across General Mills, leveraging our investment in digital, data and analytics.”

On the app, pet owners can shop “BLUE Bundles” at exclusive discounts. These Bundles include food, treats and toys for both dogs and cats. Some examples include a Fitness Fanatic Bundle for Dogs & Puppies, a Welcome Bundle for Cats, and a Party Animal Bundle for cats and kittens featuring its BLUE Bursts cat treats and Tastefuls wet diets.
