The J.M. Smucker Company on Dec. 5 voluntarily recalled four lots of its Special Kitty brand wet, canned cat food due to “health concerns potentially associated with ingredients believed to not meet the company’s quality and safety standards,” according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The product recalled by Smucker’s is its Special Kitty Mixed Grill Dinner Pâté in 5.5-oz metal cans, which is sold by itself and also a part of its Surf & Turf variety pack of canned cat food. The company has voluntarily recalled all lots of product, including variety packs, that include the potentially harmful Mixed Grill Dinner Pâté product.

The recalled cat food was sold in grocery stores across the US. Smucker’s reported it is investigating the situation to minimize future concerns.
