JANESVILLE, WIS. — NaturPak Pet, a co-manufacturer of natural, carton-packed wet pet food products, announced Oct. 23 it has become the first to add Tetra Pak®’s 3-oz Tetra Recart format to its portfolio. The 3-oz carton will expand NaturPak’s offerings for small breed dogs and cats.

“With our unique 3-oz carton, pet food brands now have the ability to transform their business with packaging that aligns with their mission, goes hand-in-hand with their ethos, and meets consumer expectations,” added Mike Jewett, vice president of sales at NaturPak.

The retortable Tetra Recart 3-oz carton offers a strong shelf presence, reduced shipping costs, and improved reliability during transport. The cartons also serve as an environmentally friendly alternative to cans, jars and pouches, according to the company. According to Tetra Pak, more than 70% of material used to create its cartons are derived from renewable resources, and lifetime carbon emissions for the cartons are 81% lower than traditional packaging.

“NaturPak has given pet food a new home,” said Aaron Jackson, chief executive officer of NaturPak. “From ingredients to processing and packaging, we are ready to get your product into the hands of discerning pet owners and into the mouths of hungry pets.

“Pet brands play a critical role in ensuring ecologically-sound packaging is part of a joint effort to improve the environment, and the low carbon footprint paired with high efficiency, make Tetra Recart packaging the best choice for both brands and consumers,” he added.

In mid-2021, NaturPak began operations in a new 162,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in Janesville. According to both NaturPak and Tetra Pak, the new facility made NaturPak the first co-packer in the United States dedicated to producing and packaging pet food in Tetra Recart cartons.
