WASHINGTON — Pet Food Institute (PFI) announced two new appointments on May 25. Kelly Kanaras joined PFI as director of communications and Cindy Ndebumadu joined PFI as office support specialist.

Prior to her new role with PFI, Kanaras worked as director of industry promotion at the National Asphalt Pavement Association, leading programs and marketing campaigns, including the Watch For Us campaign. She will bring more than 10 years of experience in communications, marketing and public relations to PFI, overseeing the institute’s communication efforts.

“I am thrilled to join PFI and use my expertise to support the pet food industry,” Kanaras said. “Pets are such an important part of our families and deserve the best care and nutrition that we can give them. Joining an industry whose goal is to provide for the health and wellness of pets is very exciting.”

Kanaras has a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Ndebumadu also joined PFI. As the institute’s new office support specialists, Ndebumadu will be responsible for administrative duties to support daily office operations and connect members to the appropriate staff to help meet their needs.

Prior to PFI, Ndebumadu served as communication intern at The Center of 4-H and Youth Development at the UDC College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Science. She has a bachelor’s degree in digital media and public relations from the University of the District of Columbia.
