MILWAUKEE, WIS. — Stella & Chewy’s announced April 24 it is actively transitioning all its pet food and treat products to recyclable packaging. Stella & Chewy’s will roll out new packaging for two of its most popular products: Chewy’s Chicken Frozen Raw Patties and Carnivore Crunch.

The company has spent the last few years researching options that meet their standards for food safety and quality. The new packaging will continue to be a barrier bag designed to keep food fresh and safe. The packaging will also feature a shinier look while keeping the same Stella & Chewy’s colors and design and will have the How2Recycle label on the upper right corner.

Stella & Chewy’s new packages can be included in municipal curbside recycling services that take recyclable #4, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) materials, as well as recyclable #2, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) materials. The new packaging can also be recycled at various drop-box locations set up through pet retailers.

“33% of pet food consumers have purchased one product over another or stopped purchasing a product based on the environmental record of its manufacturer. We only see that number increasing and we’re going to make sure our products continue to meet those expectations,” said Marc Hill, chief executive officer, Stella & Chewy’s.

Products that already feature recyclable packaging include the company’s Stews, Broth Toppers, Marie’s Mix-Ins for dogs, as well as Marvelous Morsels and Purrfect Pâté diets for cats.
