LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. – Phillips Pet Food & Supplies has partnered with Transervice Logistics, Inc. for a contract carriage solution for its new Cedar Rapids, Iowa distribution center. The contract includes, drivers, equipment, routing and scheduling. Phillips Pet Food & Supplies opened the new distribution center to better serve the Midwest and comply with cold chain food safety requirements.

“Phillips utilizes insulated containers with dry ice to maintain the required temperatures of their products from the warehouse to the delivery point,” said Wolfgang Marschhauser, senior vice president of sales, Transervice. “Our drivers are responsible for monitoring and verifying the temperature of the product at the time of delivery and using electric pallet jacks to move product from the front of the store to the back since the majority of Phillips’ customers do not have loading docks.”

Jeffrey Poore, senior vice president, supply chain and operations, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies, said Transervice follows a delivery schedule that is centered around safely and efficiently delivering fresh and frozen pet food to Phillips’ customers.

Phillips Pet Food & Supplies is a family-owned and operated distributor of fresh and frozen pet food and other supplies based in Easton, Pennsylvania.
