LONDON — Nestlé Purina PetCare Europe has opened applications for its fifth Unleashed pet industry accelerator program. For this next cohort, the company has expanded application requests to pet industry startups in Brazil and Mexico.

Run by the Purina Accelerator Lab, Unleashed seeks to identify and support innovative startups in the pet care sector. Up to 10 startups will be chosen for the fifth iteration. Applications will remain open until Oct. 15.

“This year, we have expanded our reach and made Unleashed even more inclusive, opening applications to startups in Brazil and Mexico, to allow more opportunities for growth,” said Kim Bill, head of Purina’s Accelerator Lab. “It’s great to see Unleashed bring together a network of entrepreneurs leading innovation in the pet care sector, helping us nurture, support and guide startups towards their business objectives.”

According to Purina, the company has received more than 800 applications across 50 countries since the inception of the Unleashed program, and has already graduated 25 startups in previous cohorts. Featured startups that have previously participated in the Unleashed program include BookMyPet (Dubai), Breedera (United Kingdom), and LampoVet (Italy), the last of which offers specialized tele-veterinary services, gut microbiome analyses, and individualized nutritional plans for dogs and cats, respectively.
