PORTLAND, ORE. — Portland Pet Food Company (PPFC) announced that its first cat food products would officially launch in select stores beginning September, with full distribution in pet specialty and natural grocery stores throughout the United States planned for October 2022.
PPFC’s new Homestyle Meal cat foods are formulated with whole food ingredients sourced from the United States and are free from added hormones, synthetics, antibiotics supplements and other additives. The diets, which can be served as complete-and-balanced meals or toppers, contain fewer than eight ingredients and are easily digestible to help support cats with digestive issues and food sensitivities.
“It has been a goal of ours for some time to expand into the cat food category,” said Katie McCarron, founder of PPFC. “This launch represents years of research and development; our team is beyond thrilled to finally bring the same quality pet food to cats that we've been serving to dogs for years. We are leading the way offering alternative options for cat parents seeking nutritionally dense, highly palatable and moisture rich whole foods.”
PPFC showcased the new, human-grade cat foods at Global Pet Expo in March 2022. The new cat formulas are available in two recipes — Boots’ Salmon N’ Pumpkin and Luke’s Chicken N’ Pumpkin — for $3.29 per pouch.
In conjunction with the launch of its first cat food formulas, PPFC has also increased its distribution with Veterinary Service, Inc. (VSI), a leading distributor of animal health products. VSI will distribute PPFC’s entire line of pet food products, including its new Homestyle Meal cat formulas throughout the western United States.
“It is a pleasure to partner and work with Portland Pet Food Company,” said Chad Waterman, vice president of sales at VSI. “They are committed to the pet world, with standards second to none. The professionalism and care for the industry and the products they manufacture make them a great company to partner with.”
Currently, VSI serves more than 3,000 customers throughout the western United States.
“VSI has a strong commitment to distributing high-quality products in the pet specialty channel, and we are thrilled to expand our reach with them,” McCarron said.
