AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND — NOOD, a pet food startup based in New Zealand, officially expanded into its fourth international market this fall through an exclusive partnership with Tesco, a multinational retailer in the United Kingdom.

Now, NOOD dog and cat food formulas are available in New Zealand, Australia, France, the United Kingdom and Canada. According to the company, NOOD has sold more than 30 million meals across these markets since its founding in 2019.

Tesco forecasts selling 8 million units of NOOD pet food within the first year of its UK debut. The company currently sells more than 12,000 units per week in France through retailer Carrefour.

“We’re so excited and very fortunate to partner with large supermarkets such as Tesco to distribute NOOD, which allows for the economies of scale to produce high-quality recipes affordably, and unlike many larger companies, we pass these savings on to customers,” said Alistair King, founder of NOOD. “Our team at NOOD believes that every pet deserves the proper nutrition to live a happy life and for owners to feel reassured about what they are feeding their pets. We can’t wait for UK pet lovers and their furry friends to try it for themselves!”

NOOD diets are formulated with ethically sourced proteins such as cage-free chicken and turkey, and sustainably caught salmon. Proteins are blended with probiotics, superfoods, minerals, and other essential nutrients to create complete-and-balanced meals for pets. The company develops its pet diets in collaboration with a team of animal nutrition experts.

This pet food portfolio includes three dry formulas for dogs, three dry diets for cats, and five wet cat food formulas packaged in pouches. Formulas are appropriate for dogs and cats of all life stages, according to NOOD. All diets are free from gluten, eggs, dairy, sugar, salt, and artificial flavors and preservatives.
