FORT COLLINS, COLO. — PetDine announced Oct. 12 plans to expand its Harvard, Ill. pet supplement processing plant, with support from Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM).

This follows recent news of ADM’s intentions to acquire P4 Companies, the owner of PetDine, Pedigree Ovens, The Pound Bakery and NutraDine. ADM valued the group of private label pet treat manufacturing companies at $600 million and plans to acquire 75% of the group’s equity.

PetDine will add new equipment to facilitate capacity additions for several product formats, including for puffs, soft-filled treats and rotary moulded products. It will add two new extruders for puffs and soft-filled treats, a large band oven for baked rotary products, and five new packaging lines, three of which are already up and running.

“An estimated 68% of American households have pets,” said Preston Munsch, founding partner at PetDine. “That is a large population with continuously changing needs and demands. PetDine has chartered an ambitious growth course year over year in the pet supplement and treat space, and we plan to keep delivering cutting-edge pet products while accelerating our clients’ go-to-market timeline and holding fast to our ‘Made Better’ promise.”

In August, the company announced a $25 million expansion to its cold-extruded soft chew and liquid supplement manufacturing facility in Windsor, and in April opened a new 10,000-square-foot plant in Fort Collins. PetDine reports these expansions — including its latest in Harvard — will enhance its production capabilities and time-to-market for customers.

PetDine also recently added cat supplement manufacturing and product development capabilities to its supplement portfolio. The company will develop the cat chews through its Martina Holmes Innovation Lab, which was also established earlier this year.
