ORRVILLE, Ohio — The J.M. Smucker Company has voluntarily recalled two lot numbers of its 9Lives Protein Plus wet canned cat food for potentially containing low levels of thiamine, or vitamin B1. The company said no illnesses have been reported.

 

9Lives Protein Plus, Tuna with Chicken and Tuna with LiverAffected products include:

  • 9Lives Protein Plus with tuna and chicken
    • 4 pack of cans, 5.5 oz. each

    • Best if Used By Mar. 27, 2020 – Nov. 14, 2020
  • 9Lives Protein Plus with tuna and liver
    • 4 pack of cans, 5.5 oz. each
    • UPC: 7910021748
    • Best if Used By April 17, 2020 – Sept. 14, 2020

No other 9Lives products or products of the J.M. Smucker Company are impacted by this recall. Smucker’s advised pet owners who have purchased the product to discontinue feeding it to their cats and dispose of it. The issue was discovered by the company during a standard review of product data. The company is working with the US Food and Drug Administration on this recall.
