SHANGHAI — On June 6, Aker BioMarine held an inauguration event for its latest venture into China. The company has established an animal feed division in the country, called Aker BioMarine (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., which will focus on high-quality animal feed ingredients.
The event was attended by Matts Johansen, chief executive officer of Aker BioMarine; Sigve Nordrum, chief commercial officer of animal nutrition at Aker BioMarine; Bjørn Wallentin, senior vice president of global sales at Aker BioMarine; and Yu Chengping, general manager of Aker BioMarine (Shanghai) Company.
According to Aker BioMarine, the establishment of this venture represents an advancement of the company’s involvement in China’s animal nutrition market, as well as sets a foundation for the company’s presence in the country. Through Aker BioMarine (Shanghai) Company, the company aims to help address growing demand for premium animal feed in China. It will focus on providing the Chinese animal feed industry with its QRILL® feed ingredients, which are made from Antarctic krill.
In 2020, Aker BioMarine’s QRILL meal officially entered the Chinese market. The company offers ingredients for both aquaculture (QRILL Aqua) and pet nutrition (QRILL Pet), both of which offer nutritional and sustainable benefits.
