ST. CHARLES, MO. — AFB International announced Feb. 12 it has appointed Michael Ceddia, Ph.D., to vice president of global research and development. Ceddia will be tasked with guiding the company’s science and technology initiatives and strategic direction for companion animal palatability solutions, as well as leading the company’s global regulatory, quality, project management and technical insights functions.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the AFB Global R&D Team,” Ceddia said. “I look forward to helping the company expand our new innovation and new product development while continuing to deliver a high level of technical service to our customers. I am eager to bring my knowledge and experience to the team and help drive the company’s ongoing growth.”

Throughout his career, Ceddia has held several executive leadership roles within pet food, consumer products, nutritional and pharmaceutical companies. He most recently served as vice president of R&D, quality and technical operations at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, and has also held leadership positions with Kemin Health, Mead Johnson Nutritionals and Procter & Gamble.

“Mike brings great leadership experience and strategic customer focus,” said Dale Spence, interim president at AFB. “We are excited for him to join AFB and we look forward to the advancement of innovation, science-based solutions and technical services to better partner with our customers.”

Ceddia earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, followed by a master’s degree in biomechanics from the University of Northern Colorado and a Ph.D. in physiology and immunology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
