MCLEAN, VA. — Mars, Incorporated announced Sept. 29 it has completed its acquisition of SYNLAB Vet from SYNLAB Group. The veterinary company is now part of Mars Petcare’s Science & Diagnostics division.

“We are excited to welcome SYNLAB Vet to our division and look forward to working together in service of our purpose: A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS™,” said Nefertiti Greene, president of Mars Science & Diagnostics. “Together we will support more veterinary professionals and pets in Europe with a full diagnostics portfolio across reference laboratories, point-of-care, imaging and technology solutions, rapid diagnostics, telemedicine and software solutions and services.”

The addition of SYNLAB Vet will bolster Mars Petcare’s veterinary lab business in Europe and expand its full-service global veterinary diagnostic platform, which includes laboratories, point-of-care solutions, imaging and software, according to Mars.

The acquisition was originally announced on Aug. 14 and was subject to regulatory approval.

“We look forward to welcoming SYNLAB Vet to the Mars Petcare family of businesses,” Greene said upon the original acquisition announcement. “We share the belief that excellence in veterinary diagnostics and advanced technology is transformative for veterinary care.

“This transaction is complementary to our existing diagnostics business and will bring additional reach across Europe and further our purpose to create A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS™,” she added.
