CLECKHEATON, UNITED KINGDOM — Premium pet nutrition business Pure Pet Food announced it has appointed Roz Cuschieri to chief executive officer to support its continued growth.

Founded in 2012 by Mathew Cockroft and Daniel Valdur Eha, Pure Pet Food strives to “change dogs’ lives for the  better” through premium nutrition. It offers a variety of complete-and-balanced dog food and treats and recently launched a functional formula targeting renal health in pets.

According to the company, it has witnessed rapid growth in the United Kingdom fueled by a rise in pet ownership and subsequent increase in consumer demand. Pure Pet Food has shipped more than 18 million pet meals to date and expanded its operations from a small kitchen to a 15,000-square-foot facility with more than 50 employees. To build on this growth, the company has added Cuschieri to its team.

“We are delighted to welcome Roz to Pure and are looking forward to working with her as we plot our next phase of growth in the fast-moving pet nutrition sector,” Cockroft and Valdur Eha said.

Cuschieri has a background in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. She served as board commercial director at Warburtons for 12 years and served as chief executive officer of Genius Foods. During her time at Genuis Foods, Cuschieri drove a turnover of £7 million ($8.7 million USD), oversaw a bakery acquisition and international expansion, and led the company’s growth to £50 million ($62.5 million USD) turnover.

Cuschieri also serves on the boards of many companies including MedaHuman Ltd, Babease Ltd and Lightbody Ventures Ltd.

“Dan and Mat are truly inspirational founders with a passion for creating something pet owners are desperately looking for,” she said. “I am delighted to be joining the business at such an exciting time.”
