MONTRÉAL — WeighPack Systems Inc., a provider of automated turnkey packaging solutions, launched two new state-of-the-art packaging systems on Dec. 8 to automate the bulk bagging process. The new BI 600 automatic bag inserter and BU 600 automatic bag uncuffer can be used in several food applications, including snacks, wrapped candy, frozen food and pet food.

The BI 600 inserts bags into cases and the BU 600 uncuffs and seals the bags, eliminating manual operations and increasing automation. The systems are specifically designed to fit into an existing bulk bag filling line complete with a case erector, bulk weigh filler and case sealer.

First, the BI 600 dispenses film on a roll then cuts, seals and inserts a bag into a case. After the bag is weighed and filled, the case goes to the BU 600, which then uncuffs the bag folded over the case, allowing for it to be sealed. WeighPack offers bag sealing and vacuuming capabilities to create an even more automated process.

The BI 600 is capable of handling polyethylene or laminated bag films ranging in size, from 1 to 4 mL and with roll depths up to 650 mL. The BU 600 also accepts bags of 1 to 4 mL in size and a bag fold over up to 610 mL. The systems are made of 304 stainless steel frames and feature SMC pneumatics, Omron servo motors, Hiwin linear bearings and 18-in industrial PC panels.

WeighPack can customize the new equipment to meet specific weighing, filling, case erecting and sealing needs.
