IRVING, Texas — Summit Partners and certain Goldman Sachs Asset Management, L.P. funds have acquired a majority stake in Animal Supply Company, one of the leading US pet food and supplies distributors. The two investment firms have also provided a large investment of capital to Animal Supply to support its growth and operations.

Randy Reber, current chairman and co-founder of Animal Supply, has joined the company’s new board and will remain a minority shareholder. “This transaction provides the financial and physical foundation upon which we can continue delivering success to pet specialty independent retailers,” Reber added.
