It’s going to take more capital investment to fulfill growing interest in alternative proteins, according to the Good Food Institute. 

The company aims to provide the pet food industry with the most animal proteins at the lowest cost economically and environmentally.

This year’s show floor was filled with an influx of cat nutrition, premium formats geared to help consumers “build” their pets’ bowls, and naturalized, minimally processed formulas. 

The startups will compete for a grand prize during Global Pet Expo in March.

Many cat-centric companies are aiming to address a significant lack of nutritional products for felines.
