SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — The Honest Kitchen launched a line of functional meal toppers for dogs, expanding its Pour Overs® line. Each topper was developed in collaboration with a veterinary nutritionist.
According to The Honest Kitchen, more than 64% of surveyed dog owners claimed they add extra food ingredients to their pets’ meals to provide variety, flavor and additional nourishment. The Functional Pour Overs seek to offer human-grade nutrition and functional benefits to a dog’s existing meal.
“Functional Pour Overs allow pet parents to combine nutrition, function and flavor at mealtime,” said Lucy Postins, founder and chief integrity officer at The Honest Kitchen. “We worked with a veterinary nutritionist to carefully select ingredients that have been shown to have benefits in supporting or maintaining key areas of pet health.”
Formulated with nutrients to support overall health in dogs, the toppers are available in five recipes: Hearth Health Turkey Broth & Salmon Stew contains Omegas, taurine and L-carnitine to support heart health; Immune Support Beef Stew contains antioxidants and vitamins A and E to help maintain immune health; Hip & Joint Support Chicken Stew contains EPA and DHA to support joint health; Revive & Restore Chicken & Pumpkin Stew made contains protein, antioxidants and vitamin B to support a healthy appetite; and Skin & Coat Salmon Stew contains Omegas, biotin and vitamin E to support a health skin and coat.
The Functional Pour Overs are available for $3.29 via independent pet supply stores, Petco, Chewy, Amazon and The Honest Kitchen’s site.
