WASHINGTON — The Pet Food Institute (PFI) released a market tracker tool to support the pet food and treat industry in export opportunities.

Released in partnership with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the tool provides information about countries in which the PFI is active with the USDA’s Market Access Program (MAP). PFI has participated in the MAP since 1998, during which there were only eight markets in the program. There are currently 17 countries in PFI’s current MAP.

“The market tracker tool is a well-rounded solution that consolidates key data, insights and analysis, alongside of official trade data, to deliver a concise review of markets, key products sectors/sub-sectors, and help to deliver a better understanding of market strengths, weaknesses and opportunities,” said Nat Davies, vice president of business operations and programs, PFI. “I encourage companies in the pet food industry to use it.”

The market tracker tool offers information on a variety of countries so that industry professionals can assess, compare and prioritize their export opportunities. The tool provides data on a country’s pet food market size and growth, sub-category breakdowns and trends/drivers, as well as import and export data.
