SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL — Natoo, a premium pet food company, announced that its biscuit production facility has received Gold certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program from the US Green Building Council.

To receive LEED certification, Natoo’s biscuit production facility was evaluated on its carbon footprint, energy efficiency, air quality, water usage, waste handling and overall environmental impact. According to Natoo, it passed the evaluation with “flying colors.”

“We are honored to be the first pet food factory in Latin America to receive the Gold certification and stand within a handful of companies around the world that are LEED certified,” said Fernando Maluf, vice president of international sales, Natoo. “So, it means quite a lot for our dedicated food processing team. By making good environmental, social and scientific practices a priority, we’re aiming to generate a positive impact on society, while doing our best to help every pet have a better life.”

Located in Brazil, Natoo’s biscuit facility features state-of-the-art, eco-friendly equipment. The facility produces the company’s range of Crunchy Biscuits for pets. The treats are formulated with whole, natural ingredients and offer functional benefits. For example, Natoo’s Coconut and Mango Flavored Biscuits contain antioxidants, biotin, complex carbohydrates, fiber, prebiotics and zinc to promote digestive, immune, skin and coat health and provide energy.
