SALISBURY, MD. — Human-grade dog food producer Spot Farms will donate 1% of its annual sales to Savory Institute, an organization supporting regenerative farmers and ranchers.

Part of Spot Farms’ mission is to source only regionally raised, antibiotic-free chicken, turkey and pork for its pet food formulas. Its partnership with Savory Institute will further the organization’s mission of supporting regenerative sourcing solutions for meat, dairy, wool and leather products.

"At Spot Farms, we set out every day to make the best treats for your dog using the finest ingredients available, and that starts at the source,” said Ryan Perdue, founder of Spot Farms. “Farmers in the US are key to our brand and we are thrilled this partnership will support the health of our planet and farming communities.

“The Spot Farms brand has been committed to our farmers since day one, and this partnership and commitment to regenerative agriculture is our way of committing to our farming future,” Perdue said. “We are ecstatic to work with the Savory Institute to support the environment and our nation's farming industry that helps us provide the best ingredients and nutrition for your pets both now and for years to come."

Savory Institute works with farmers, ranchers and pastoralists around the world to improve land health, train and educate on regenerative methods, and support other environmental efforts for the agriculture industry. Its long-term goal, according to Spot Farms, is to influence the management of 1 billion hectares of grasslands by 2025.

"We are proud to welcome Spot Farms to the Savory Institute family to help expand our regenerative-focused mission," said Chris Kerston, co-leader of Savory Institute's Land to Market program. "The Spot Farms brand is a leader in supporting our nation's farmers, and we look forward to working with them to help restore our farmlands and make a positive impact on the climate crisis."

The premium pet food company also plans to donate 1% of its annual sales to 1% for the Planet, a network of global businesses that support environmental nonprofits. Spot Farms joined this organization as a business member in September 2020.

1% for the Planet was founded in 2002 and has since facilitated $265 million in donations from its business and individual members to approved nonprofits partners.

Spot Farms is a subsidiary of Perdue Farms, a family-owned food and agriculture company with a robust premium protein portfolio and one other pet treat brand, Full Moon.
