KREFLED, GERMANY — The Fressnapf Group announced its acquisition of Jumper Groep on Nov. 15. Following this acquisition, Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo now has a footprint in 14 European countries with more than 2,000 retail locations.
Based in the Netherlands, Jumper is the second-largest specialty pet retailer in the country, according to the company. Jumper currently operates 47 branded stores, three franchise stores and 19 shop-in-shop locations.
“We are very proud of how Jumper has grown and became a successful company,” said Kees Vierhouten, former owner of Jumper. “The vision and core values of the Fressnapf Group match perfectly with ours. Together with Fressnapf Jumper has now the opportunity, to realize its great ambitions in a growing Dutch market. I wish my team all the best for this endeavor.”
According to Fressnapf, the acquisition of Jumper will allow it to advance its position in the Dutch market.
“The acquisition of Jumper Groep is strategically important for Fressnapf,” said Torsten Toeller, owner of Fressnapf. “Jumper has great employees and stores throughout the country. The expansion will give us access to a highly developed and growing pet market with a volume of EUR 1.7 billion ($1.85 billion USD). We are also convinced that our omnichannel ecosystem strategy will work in the Netherlands.”
Fressnapf’s acquisition of Jumper builds on several expansions for the company across Europe. It merged with Arcaplanet in Italy, invested in ZOOCITY in Croatia, and recently entered the Romanian pet retail market.
