Howliday goodies for pets aplenty
See some of the holiday-themed pet food and treat products on the market this season.
Bring on the gingerbread
A number of brands are ringing in the holiday season with limited-edition holiday-themed pet foods and treats. Flip through this slideshow to see some of these seasonal products available through the end of December.
BLUE Santa Snacks
As always, Blue Buffalo is tapping into the holiday fever with two limited-edition dog treats. BLUE Santa Snacks are available in semi-moist and crunchy bites for dogs. The semi-moist treats are available in chicken flavor, while the crunchy treats include oatmeal and cinnamon for flavoring. Both treats are formed in “fun holiday shapes,” including pine trees, stars, gingerbread men and snowmen.
For cats, too
While this list of holiday treats is sadly scant in terms of cat treats, Purina’s Temptations brand is offering one holiday treat: its classic Temptations treat formula with Turkey and Sweet Potato flavors. These Holiday Dinner Temptations treats are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Weruva variety packs
Pet food company Weruva is selling three holiday-themed variety packs of canned cat food on Chewy.com to include felines in the festivities. The Feline Festivus variety pack includes 12 wet cat food formulas of “Weruva’s favorite foods,” while its Meowy and Bright variety pack includes six wet pouch formulas. Additionally, Weruva’s TruLuxe brand is offering a variety pack of all 10 TruLuxe canned cat food formulas sold by the company.
A Milk-Bone Christmas
This Smucker subsidiary brand has launched three holiday-themed dog treat products this season: Limited-Edition Holiday Biscuits, Milk-Bone Mini’s Holiday Flavor Snacks, and a holiday variation of its Original Biscuits. The brand’s Holiday Biscuits are crunchy treats shaped like Christmas trees, classic bones and stockings. The brand has also rolled out a tub of red, green and brown-colored Flavor Snacks, as well as its Original Biscuits featuring a wintery forest on the packaging.
Holiday hygiene
This dental chew company has two holiday treats for dogs: a limited-edition candy cane tube filled with individually wrapped dental dog treats, and a limited-edition Gingerbread flavor of its classic dental dog chews.
Wag More Bark Less
Cloud Star, a Whitebridge Pet Brands company, has launched three holiday dog treats under its Wag More Bark Less brand. Its Gingerbread Mini Biscuits and Honeybaked Ham Mini Biscuits are crunchy, limited-ingredient baked options, and its Holiday Mini Jerky treats are a meatier option. The brand’s Honeybaked Ham Mini Biscuits include natural pork, and its Holiday Mini Jerky treats are grain-free and formulated with natural duck and apples, with duck as the first ingredient.
Wag More Bark Less
Cloud Star’s Gingerbread Mini Biscuits are formulated with 11 ingredients, including natural ginger.
Jingle Jangle
WellPet brand, Old Mother Hubbard, is offering a twist on its P-Nuttier dog biscuits. Its holiday-edition Jingle Jangles are all-natural, formulated with peanut butter and molasses, and formed in holiday shapes.
Blue Dog Bakery
This natural dog treat company is offering three limited-edition gingerbread dog treats this year under: Doggie Paws small and crunchy biscuits, Sleigh Bell Softies soft-based treats with a cheddar center, and Jingle Bites soft bits for puppies and small dogs. All three are formulated with natural gingerbread flavor.
Lord Jameson
This organic dog treat company got a jump on the competition when it launched its special edition holiday line in July. The brand’s Holiday Cobbler dog treats feature gluten-free oats, brown rice syrup, dates, apple juice concentrate, roasted peanut butter, apples, coconut and cinnamon. Its new Gingerbread treats are formulated with gluten-free oats, molasses, date paste, peanut butter, coconut, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. The Hanukkah Gelt dog treats are made with gluten-free oats, wild blueberries, roasted peanut butter, date paste, oat flour, brown rice syrup, coconut shreds and purple carrot juice. Lastly, Lord Jameson’s Gingerbread treats will also be available in candy cane-shaped packages for the holiday season. The packaging will contain 14 Gingerbread dog treats, rolled in red and green-colored coconut flakes.
Plato's holiday bundle
Plato Pet Treats has launched a holiday bundle of its most popular dog snacks, including Hundur’s Crunch Jerky Fingers, Plato Small Bites and Real Strips Duck. The treats are packaged in a holiday-themed gift box.
Bocce's Bakery
This artisan dog treat brand is selling three holiday dog treats: Lump of Coal, Santa S’mores and Holiday Feast. All three are natural, soft-baked bites with just nine ingredients each. Its Lumps of Coal treats are formulated with peanut butter, molasses and bone charcoal; its Santa S’mores treats include peanut butter, molasses and carob; and its Holiday Feast treats are formulated with cranberry, pumpkin and turkey.
Under the Muttsletoe
Through the rest of December, Smart Cookie Barkery is offering a limited-edition holiday treat: The Muttsletoe: Turkey treats for dogs with pumpkins and cranberries. These festive treats are formulated with turkey, pumpkin, ground flax seed, lentils, peanut butter, molasses, cranberries, sea salt, mixed tocopherols, rosemary extract and green tea extract.
Wholesome Pride
This brand has launched a holiday edition of its classic Sweet Potato Fries Dog Treats. These single-ingredient treats are minimally processed, grain-free, gluten-free and all natural.
