CHICAGO — Farm to Pet will debut its special-edition packaging for its Turkey Chips dog treats in support of Live Like Roo, a dog charity based in Chicago. Through its partnership with the charity, Farm to Pet will donate $2 for each bag of treats sold.
Live Like Roo provides support and financial assistance to families whose pets have been diagnosed with cancer. Jackson Jones, founder of Farm to Pet, discovered the charity and its mission during a local pet company event in 2022.
“As someone who has witnessed how resilient pets are in the face of pain and adversity, I was immediately moved by the support Live Like Roo gives to dogs in need,” Jones said. “They deserve anything that can provide even a moment of the joy they give to us so selflessly.”
Jackson then connected with Sarah Lauch, founder and executive director of Live Like Roo, and collaborated on a new bag design for Farm to Pet’s human-grade, protein-rich dog treats, which are ideal for sick dogs that need easily digestible nutrition, to support Live Like Roo’s mission and showcase one of the dogs it has supported.
For their first collaboration in 2023, the businesses hosted a fundraising contest, allowing consumers to select which dog would be featured on Farm to Pet’s treat packaging. According to the businesses, the contest received dozens of entries, thousands of votes and thousands of donations. Turbo, a Pitbull mix, was ultimately selected and appeared on the Live Like Roo Chicken Chips bag design.
For their second collaboration this year, Farm to Pet and Live Like Roo repeated the collaboration and will feature two dogs on the Turkey Chips treat packaging: Junie B. Jones, a Chihuahua whose cancer is in remission; and Mickey, a Pitbull mix who passed in May. According to the businesses, this year’s fundraising contest raised nearly $25,000 for Live Like Roo.
The new Farm to Pet Live Like Roo Turkey Chips treats will be available in 4-oz. packages. For each bag of the treats sold, Farm to Pet will donate $2 to the charity. For each bundle of six bags sold, the company will up its donation to $15.
“Pet health and happiness are at the core of our mission, and helping Live Like Roo is perfectly aligned with our goal to make life as good as possible for as many pets as we can,” Jones said.
