SUGAR LAND, TEXAS — Accredo Packaging, Inc., a sustainable flexible packaging manufacturer, has been certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) by the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (SMSDC) and recertified by the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (HMSDC), solidifying the company’s long-standing commitment to inclusive and responsible business practices.
Accredo Packaging’s roots date back almost 40 years ago when its founding family, who were immigrants from Southeast Asia, started their manufacturing business, Advance Polybag, Inc., in New Orleans. In 2009, the family expanded the business into the packaging sector and formed Accredo Packaging in Sugar Land. Today, the company remains family-owned and minority-led.
The company’s focus on sustainability and innovation is highlighted by its LEED Silver-certified facility powered entirely by wind generated electrical energy and its development of recyclable and bio-based pouch alternatives, according to the company. In addition, Accredo introduced the industry’s first laminated all-recyclable pouch and the first ASTM 6400 and BPI-certified compostable stand-up pouch. The company offers recyclable overwraps, shrink bundle films and renewable sugarcane-based pouches packaging solutions for various products including snack foods, confectionary items, frozen foods and pet treats.
“Certification by the HMSDC and SMSDC is a powerful step forward in our ability to serve customers that value performance, sustainability and supplier diversity,” said Roberto Santos, vice president of Marketing at Accredo Packaging. “It enhances our visibility with major brands, gives us access to exclusive opportunities, and validates our track record as a high-performing, minority-owned business.”
