BOLOGNA, ITALY — International pet industry tradeshow Zoomark experienced significant growth for its 21st event held May 5 to 7, with a 23% increase in exhibitors and a 32% increase in show floor space. The success of the event further strengthens Zoomark’s international positioning in the pet industry, according to event organizer BolognaFiere.
Nearly 31,000 attendees and exhibitors were at the show from all corners of the pet industry. Of this, more than 64% came abroad, according to Zoomark. There were 1,268 exhibitors at the show, including 43 startups, from 56 different countries. The show floor expanded with three new pavilions this year to reach 90,000 square meters (968,752 square feet). Additionally, buyers, including retailers, pet shop buyers, chain distributors and import/export operators, at the show came from 120 different countries, demonstrating Zoomark’s international appeal.
The show introduced three new “paths” this year, including Greenmark, a collaboration between Zoomark and the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC); Italian Style, which showcased innovations in the Italian pet industry; and Tech for Future, which highlighted leading technological innovations.
Also new at this year’s event was the Factory section, which showcased aspects of the pet industry supply chain. According to BolognaFiere, this section attracted purchasing managers, quality managers, formulators, R&D heads and production technicians.
The show also included more than 80 seminars, presentations, roundtables and conferences, providing attendees with opportunities to meet, network and learn.
Within the pet food realm, the show floor was littered with innovations, from gently cooked formulas designed to preserve nutrients to alternative ingredients and functional diets to single-protein meals and a variety of treats.
During the show, winners of the 2025 Pet Vision Awards were announced. The Pet Vision area of the show floor, held in the Innovation Corner at Hall 16, showcased more than 1,000 new pet products from Zoomark exhibitors. Awards were given in four categories, representing four key megatrends shaping the industry’s future — Value for Money, highlights products with a high-quality to price ratio; Green Transition, highlights products that stand out for sustainability; Brain & Health, highlights products that promote pets’ psycho-physical wellbeing; and Mini Mania, highlights products for small pets. Pet nutrition winners included:
- Viozois Sa’s Lunch Boxes for Dogs and Cats, a pet food range packaged in a 100% recyclable lunch box. The product combines sustainability benefits, ease of use for consumers and ensures food preservation. This product won the Green Transition category.
- Gosbi Pet Food’s Natsbi Steamed Dog Food, a formula that touts a high level of meat or fish (between 85% and 90%) and its gently steamed to preserve nutrients without the need for freezing or refrigeration. This product won the Brain & Health category.
Following a successful 2025 event, Zoomark has joined the European Pet Organization, which aims to unite international pet industry associations.
The next Zoomark tradeshow is set for May 10 to 17, 2027, in Bologna.
