KIBBUTZ MAANIT, ISRAEL — In an effort to keep up with rising demand for functional pet nutrition, Galam Ltd. announced an expansion of its short-chain fructooligosaccharide (FOS) production capacity — now operating four production lines across three international facilities. According to Galam, this strategic move strengthens its position as a global leader in prebiotic ingredient solutions designed specifically for companion animals.
“With the new expansion, we are now the largest FOS manufacturer worldwide,” said Itay Vilder, vice president of global sales for Galam.
The expansion allows Galam to meet the growing global need for GOFOS™, its flagship short-chain FOS, which is used in a wide range of pet nutrition formats including dry and wet food, treats and dietary supplements for dogs, cats and other animals.

The prebiotic offers various health benefits, including digestive support, nutrient absorption and gut health support, and is ideal for pets with digestive sensitivities, immune issues or special dietary requirements, making it extremely versatile for overall pet wellness, according to Galam. GOFOS is available in powder, liquid and anticaking formats for kibble and wet formulas and functional treats and supplements, providing flexibility for different manufacturing processes and formulation needs.
Early this year, Galam debuted a newly built production facility as part of this global expansion initiative. Backed by a $25 million investment, the new plant is now fully operational, enhancing Galam’s ability to provide a consistent, high-quality supply of prebiotics to pet nutrition brands worldwide, according to the company.
Galam stated that its investment in FOS production reflects a deep commitment to advancing the science of pet nutrition. With operations across five continents, Galam is now more equipped than ever to keep up with rising demand for prebiotic ingredients and functional pet nutrition.
