SAN FRANCISCO — Premium dog food company PawCo Foods has teamed up with the Harvard Data Analytics Group (HDAG) to accelerate the development of PawCo’s new product line that will be fully generated by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform. According to PawCo, the collaboration represents a groundbreaking milestone in its mission to disrupt the pet food industry.
Founded in 2021, PawCo Foods aims to bring high-quality, sustainable and scientifically formulated nutrition to dogs’ bowls leveraging advanced technology and sustainable ingredients.
The HDAG is a non-profit student organization at Harvard that supports organizations that use advanced data analysis to drive innovation and growth. Through their partnership, PawCo will “supercharge” its AI platform, leveraging HDAG’s expertise to extract billions of data points and receive deeper insights from thousands of scientific sources and nutritional datasets.
The partnership builds upon PawCo’s data-driven method for developing pet food products, which has allowed the company to develop 11 nutritional formulas in two years, something that typically takes up to 10 years for traditional pet food companies, according to PawCo.
“PawCo’s vision is to create a healthier and happier generation of dogs through better food, made more accessible by lower costs,” said Mahsa Vazin, Ph.D., founder and chief executive officer of PawCo. “We are beyond excited to work with the brilliant minds at Harvard to make that possible. Their passion for innovation and data science perfectly complements our mission to deliver the healthiest, most sustainable meals to dogs everywhere — more efficiently and intelligently than ever before.”
PawCo and HDAG will collaborate to develop the next generation of PawCo’s AI platform, enhancing its capabilities across ingredient selection, nutritional moeling and product development. Through this, PawCo will accelerate its ability to bring more scientifically validated, high-performance nutrition to market with greater speed and precision, according to the company.
“Our core mission is leveraging AI and data to disrupt different industries, so it is incredibly exciting to partner with companies like PawCo who want to leverage data and AI technology to make the world a better place for our lovely companions,” said Carlos Luz, CEO of HDAG. “We’re looking forward to contributing to the advancement of their AI platform and helping drive the future of smarter, more sustainable dog nutrition.”
PawCo’s AI technology analyzes complex nutritional datasets, serving a central role in the company’s R&D process and optimizing its recipes to ensure nutritional completeness, taste, digestibility and ingredient quality. This allows the company to rapidly innovate and create personalized feeding experiences for dogs of all sizes, ages and lifestyles. The technology works in tandem with PawCo’s team of board-certified animal nutritionists and food scientists. The team translates advanced data insights into real-word dog food formulas that exceed Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) standards and provide pups with optimal nutrition to support overall wellness.
