LVIV, UKRAINE — Kormotech Group of Companies announced its expansion into the markets of Qatar and Nigeria, making its pet food products now available in 46 countries.
According to the company, it supplies 1,065 tons of product annually to the Middle East and African (MEA) markets and plans to gradually increase this volume. In Qatar, Kormotech supplies its Club 4 Paws cat food, while in Nigeria, both cat and dog food from the Club 4 Paws brand will be available in pet stores.
Kormotech attributes this expansion to steady growth in the pet food market within the MEA region, as well as projections that this growth will continue. This growth is attributed to an increase in pet ownership, particularly among young people and the middle class, as well as a rising focus on animal health, according to Kormotech.
“Compared to developed markets, the competition in Qatar and Nigeria is lower, but these markets are growing rapidly,” said Mykola Deviatov, head of strategic business for South-Eastern Europe, Central Asia & Middle East at Kormotech.
Before entering these new markets, Kormotech adapted its products to meet the needs and demands of local consumers by expanding its flavor range to include more options with chicken, lamb and fish. Based on the growing demand in premium and super-premium segments, pet owners in the MEA region prefer natural ingredients, functional additives and vitamins in pet food. However, consumers still prioritize reaching an optimal balance between price and quality, according to Kormotech.
“Local consumers tend to trust established manufacturers, but they are also open to new brands that offer a balanced composition at an affordable price,” Deviatov added. “Kormotech’s products meet these expectations.”
Kormotech has been expanding its presence in the Middle East and Africa since 2019, with the company’s brands being represented in numerous countries within the region. Over the past five years, sales in this region have grown tenfold, according to Kormotech.
“We expect not only increased sales volumes but also strengthened brand positioning in the MEA region with our entry into the Qatar and Nigeria markets,” Deviatov said. “We see great potential in building long-term partnerships with local distributors.”
To explore new opportunities within the region, Kormotech will attend PetWorld Arabia 2025 — an international B2B exhibition for the pet sector in the MEA region — which will take place April 19 to 20 in Dubai.
