PAWTUCKET, RI. — On Feb. 26, Pet Food Experts (PFX) announced its acquisition of select assets of Animal Supply Company (ASC), making it the largest pet specialty distributor in the United States, according to PFX. Along with this expansion, Michael Baker has returned to lead PFX as chief executive officer and president following Greg Cyr’s decision to step down. Cyr originally joined PFX in October 2024.

According to PFX, following this strategic move, it now operates the largest cold-chain network in the industry. Additionally, ASC’s third-party logistics, direct-to-consumer and veterinary clinic capabilities will integrate into PFX’s expanded distribution network. PFX explained that a key part of this acquisition is revitalizing ASC’s once-dominant market share, particularly in serving neighborhood pet stores across the United States. The expansion is expected to significantly expand PFX’s geographic footprint, strengthen its infrastructure and enhance its distribution capabilities.
