INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MINN. — SOMIC Packaging recently hired Dave Billingsley as its new technical operations manager. According to the company, Billingsley will serve a key role in its growth phase.
Billingsley has 35 years of experience working for companies in the custom automated packaging equipment industry, as well as various manufacturing businesses.
“In roles ranging from plant manager and director of operations to chief executive officer and president, I have led initiatives that improved quality, reduced costs and accelerated growth,” Billingsley said. “My hands-on leadership style, combined with a knack for building high-performing teams and inspiring them to exceed corporate targets, aligns perfectly with my new position.”
In his new role at SOMIC, Billingsley will be responsible for production oversight, project management and processing consistency. He will also oversee Factory Acceptance Testing of all SOMIC equipment produced for the North American market.
“Meeting with the SOMIC team in person confirmed my positive feelings,” Billingsley said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to be involved from the ground floor as we expand the North American market, knowing my skills would be utilized to their fullest extent.”
SOMIC currently has hundreds of automated, end-of-line packaging machines in operations spanning cheese, dairy, confectionary, meat processing, snack food and pet food, as well as other manufacturing facilities. Recently the company tripled its space and capabilities by moving into a new 48,000-square-foot facility.
