WESTPORT, CONN. — Benebone introduced a new recycling program in partnership with international recycling leader TerraCycle. The Benebone Free Recycling Program allows consumers to recycle “well-loved” Benebone dog chew toys.

“There’s no doubt that dogs love their Benebones, and we’re proud to offer dog owners this option when it’s time to retire their pup’s toy,” said Nate Harceg, chief growth officer of Benebone. “Now our beloved Benebones can have new life with this sustainable recycling program.”

Through the program, TerraCycle will recycle Benebone’s nylon-based dog chews. To participate, consumers can sign up through TerraCycle and mail in their chews using a prepaid shipping label. Once the chews are collected, TerraCycle will clean and sort the waste and reduce the chews into materials that can be used to make new products.

Additionally, for every shipment of dog chews sent to TerraCycle, collectors can earn points to donate to a nonprofit or charitable organization.

“We love to spoil our pets, but pet toys are one of the forgotten waste streams that are overlooked because they are so commonplace in our lives as pet parents,” said Tom Szaky, chief executive officer of TerraCycle. “By participating in this recycling program, consumers have the opportunity to provide their dogs with quality toys to enjoy while preserving our environment for future generations to come.”
