BOULDER, COLO. — Wellness Pet Company has upped its membership status with the Pet Sustainability Coalition. The premium pet nutrition company has joined eight other pet industry companies as an Icon-level member, the highest tier of PSC membership.

“Wellness Pet has been a PSC member at the Guardian level since 2020, and this move to Icon membership demonstrates the company’s deepening commitment to sustainability,” said Anne Klein, director of member services at PSC. “As an accredited member of PSC, they have demonstrated a transparent commitment to measure, verify, and continuously improve their environmental and social impact. Transitioning to Icon membership broadcasts their leadership to the wider pet community.”

Icon members are important contributors to PSC’s work on systemic sustainability issues facing the industry, and their investment in the organization also serves as a commitment to their own company-wide environmental and social performance goals. According to PSC, Wellness Pet’s increased involvement with the organization will benefit the industry as a whole as it works to help other brands implement sustainable ingredient sourcing, packaging and DEI standards.

“This is an exciting moment on our journey to create a world of sustainable goodness for pets and our planet,” said Greg Kean, global vice president of innovation and product development at Wellness Pet. "We believe that the mutual wellbeing of pets and their parents is intrinsically linked to environmental and social responsibility. That's why, from our packaging to our plants and our people, we do our part to ensure the wellbeing of our planet.”

PSC will host its annual Impact Unleashed event from June 6 to 7 in Boulder. This year’s event will be held in-person, after being held online for years due to COVID-19, and will focus on “A Decade of Impact,” celebrating PSC’s 10-year anniversary.
