BOSTON — To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Polkadog announced it will launch two new dog treats — Cake Batter and Green Monstah — this April. The company showcased the new treats during Global Pet Expo 2023 from March 22 to 24 in Orlando, Fla.
Both new treats are sustainably sourced and handmade.
The new Cake Batter treats are formulated with bananas and all-natural peanut butter from Teddie Peanut Butter, a family-owned peanut butter producer based in Massachusetts. These limited-ingredient treats consist of a soft and chewy texture, “perfect for any celebration,” according to Polkadog.
The new Green Monstah product not only serves as a treat, but also represents Polkadog’s restoration project. Formulated with green crab and kelp, these limited-ingredient treats seek to help curb the green crab population in New England and support kelp farming.
“Grab the crab; help the kelp,” said Deb Suchman, founder of Polkdaog. “Finding ways to manage the over-abundance of green crab populations in New England waters is the challenge. The reward is the restoration of biodiversity in coastal ecosystems, and the creation of new economic opportunity for local fishers.
“High-protein kelp, one of the healthiest, richest sources of amino acids, faces increasing stress from warming waters and invasive crab species,” Suchman added. “New England kelp farming is restoring balance to the natural ecosystems.”
Green Monstah treats contain protein and Omega 3 fatty acids to support overall pet health, while also promoting biodiversity.
Alongside these new treats, Polkadog also debuted new POP signage, endcap designs, shelf talkers and other retail promotions to help pet food and supplies retailers promote the new treats.
Polkadog’s Cake Batter treats will launch on April 11 and the Green Monstah treats will launch April 22.
