CINCINNATI — ProAmpac unveiled its new patent-pending, polyethylene (PE)-based flexible packaging series, called ProActive Recyclable® R-2050. The new packaging is available in the European market and can be used for dry food, frozen food, fresh produce and pet treat applications.

“ProAmpac continues to deliver on our mission to help our customers meet their sustainable packaging goals,” said Adam Grose, chief commercial officer for ProAmpac. “The ProActive Recyclable R-2050 series is now produced and available in the United Kingdom and Europe as a sustainable alternative to conventional multi-material laminated structures without sacrificing performance.”

The R-2050 series is widely recyclable in existing streams, as well as OPRL compliant in the United Kingdom, allowing store drop-off convenience to consumers. The packaging is available in standard and high-barrier varieties, as well as rollstock and premade pouches, to help maintain and extend a product’s shelf life.

“R-2050 is engineered to have high clarity and drop resistance, excellent stiffness and dimpling resistance for a premium shelf appearance,” said Hesam Tabatabaei, global vice president of product development and innovation at ProAmpac. “R-2050 provides superior puncture resistance and excellent directional tear without the need for laser scoring. Engineered with superior heat resistance, R-2050 allows for optimal speeds, a wide operating window, and high efficiencies on high-speed horizontal, vertical, and flow wrap form fill sealing lines.”

ProAmpac’s R-2050 packaging also uses the company’s high-definition flexographic printed graphics, available in matte or gloss, offering brands visually appealing packaging.

ProAmpac will showcase the new R-2050 series during Packaging Innovations from Feb. 15 to 16 in Birmingham, England.
