PAWTUCKET, RI. — Distributor Pet Food Experts (PFX) appointed two new personnel to its leadership team: James Martin to chief financial officer and Seth Mayers to chief technical officer. The company has also expanded Executive Vice President Jim Alden’s role to include customer experience.

According to PFX, the expansion of its leadership team will aid in its goal of becoming a community leader and service innovator to its customers.

“The expansion of our executive bench comes at a time of tremendous opportunity for PFX,” said Michael Baker, president and chief executive officer of PFX. “Seth and James are exceptional leaders who will challenge and evolve our strategic roadmap. They provide a greater depth of expertise and leadership to our business operations as we further our commitment to heighten the value for our retail community and brand partners.”

Martin has more than 30 years of experience and held previous roles of financial analyst, manager of finance, financial cost management consultant, senior finance leaders and chief financial officer at a variety of companies, including DRT Holdings, General Electric Aviation and Rhinestahl Corporation. He has extensive experience in driving company growth and building company teams.

“What an exciting time for PFX and the pet industry,” Martin said. “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to join such a well-respected and highly professional team. My goal is to assist in continuing its growth while helping to bring improved financial visibility to sustain the company's long-term success. I look forward to supporting everyone and maintaining the PFX culture of ‘people-first.’”

Prior to PFX, Mayers served as technical professional services director at Infor Global Solutions for 12 years and also served as director of IT at Kamco Supply Corp. for 14 years. His extensive experience will help PFX with its technological advancement for its vendors and customers.

“PFX has a great culture and great people,” Mayers said. “I’m looking forward to leading a talented team of tech professionals and supporting our customers.”

Alden originally joined PFX in 2004 as chief financial officer and was promoted to executive vice president in 2015. In the expansion of his role, Alden will now oversee the company’s customer service team, enhancing its services and restructuring the team’s personnel. The expansion of his role follows PFX’s promotion of Jen Haines to director of customer experience west and Sarah Daniels to director of customer experience east.

“The time has come to evolve our customer experience team into specialized roles of thoughtful sales support, impeccable order management, and best-in-class customer service that will greatly enhance the overall customer experience,” Alden said. “It’s truly an exciting time for Pet Food Experts.”

Martin, Mayers and Alden will operate out of PFX’s headquarters in Pawtucket.
