LONDON — The UK’s Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association (PFMA) released details of its Pet Food and Nutrition Webinar Series occurring online from July 5 to 14. The webinar will cover a variety of pet nutrition topics, including clinical nutrition, pet obesity, safe manufacturing practices, UK and European Union (EU) legislation, product labeling and marketing regulations.

The first week’s session, from July 5 to 7 at 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. CDT, will focus on pet nutrition for dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and fish; clinical nutrition for both cats and dogs; and nutrition related to pet obesity prevention and management.

The second week’s session, from July 12 to 14 at 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. CDT, will cover the manufacturing of dry, wet, raw and complementary pet food products; UK and EU legislation on pet foods, animal byproducts and feed additives; and product labeling, marketing and pet food claim regulations.

PFMA’s Pet Food and Nutrition Webinar Series will be live via Zoom with presentations, live Q&As, polls, quizzes, downloadable presentation materials, recorded lectures and more.

Speakers for the webinar include:

  • John Lowe, consultant nutritionist at Tuttons Hill Nutrition;
  • Christine Huggett, founder and director of The Pet Food Consultant;
  • Vicki Baldrey, lecturer in exotic species and small mammal medicine and surgery at RVC;
  • Donna Snellgrove, specialist in fish nutrition and physiology and research scientist at MARS, Inc.;
  • Marge Chandler, small animal nutrition consultant at Vets Now Referrals;
  • Alex German, professor of small animal medicine at the University of Liverpool;
  • Alana Harvey-White, chair of the Additives and Undesirable Substances Committee of PFMA;
  • Neil Leach, animal byproducts consultant and former policy advisor for the UK’s Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA);
  • Lana Morgan, head of regulatory affairs of PFMA; and
  • Michael Bellingham, chief executive of PFMA.

Participants of the webinar series will receive a certificate of attendance and 20 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) certification by CPD UK. Participants can register for daily or weekly webinars, as well as the full two-week program.
