MCLEAN, VA. — The Foundation of the Food Processing Suppliers Association (FFPSA) on July 8 launched its 2021 DEFEAT HUNGERSM Campaign, partnering with the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) on a food drive to fight hunger in the Chicago metro area.

The food drive will be held leading up to and during PROCESS EXPO, which is scheduled from Nov. 2 to 5 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

“Building upon the success at PROCESS EXPO 2019, we once again decided to support those in need here in the US by joining forces with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help feed food-insecure residents in Cook County,” said Tom Kittle, chairman of the FFPSA. “Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Food Depository has seen a 120% increase in demand for its services. The foundation’s last DEFEAT HUNGER campaign held in conjunction with PROCESS EXPO resulted in the contribution of over 300,000 meals, with our combined efforts now helping provide nearly one million three hundred thousand meals so far. We are once again very proud to be partnering with the Greater Chicago Food Depository this fall.”

FFPSA is accepting food and monetary donations online at www.myfooddrive.org/#DEFEATHUNGER2021. While the online method is preferred, check donations can also be mailed directly to GCFD, and on-site donations can be submitted during PROCESS EXPO in November. Check donations should be mailed to: Greater Chicago Food Depository, Attn: Kelly Klein – Defeat Hunger Campaign, 4100 West Ann Lurie Place, Chicago, IL 60632.

FFPSA will begin accepting exhibitor donations with their booth shipments starting Oct. 29. Shipments should be sent to: PROCESS EXPO – DEFEAT HUNGER CAMPAIGN, c/o GES, 2301 South Lakes Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60616-1490.

The organization said it will announce a final tally of food and monetary donations on Thursday, Nov. 4 during the trade show.
