NEW YORK — The Dodo, a global animal-focused media brand, launched its “Paw of Approval” program earlier this month, recognizing new and effective products in the pet care space. The company has assembled a judging panel comprised of editorial staff and “real dogs and cats” to determine which products are worthy of this seal.

The company released its first list of 50 products granted the Dodo’s “Paw of Approval,” including pet toys, food, health products, gear and accessories, as well as products that improve the lives of pet owners. The Dodo will release a new list of 50 approved pet products each quarter, hoping to accredit 150 products by the end of 2021.

The first list of 50 includes seven dog food and treat products: Nom Nom Now’s fresh dog food, OG Fresh subscription-based diets, Pet Plate fresh dog food, Jinx Salmon, Brown Rice and Sweet Potato Recipe dry food, Unkibble by Spot and Tango, Greenies dental dog treats, and Sundays For Dogs minimally processed dry dog food.

The list also featured six cat food and treat products: Cat Person premium cat food, Nom Nom Now fresh cat food, Tiki Cat Stix squeezable cat treats, Greenies Feline Dental Treats, Temptations Classic Cat Treats and Temptations MixUps.

“The Dodo reaches 100 million pet owners in the United States every month with storytelling that spotlights the human and animal connection as well as wide-ranging resources for pet owners,” said Ameena Schelling, editorial director at The Dodo. “Our team of pet parents is made up of animal lovers who are experts in the pet space and are constantly discussing which products are best to help their own dog and cat family members live their best lives. ‘Paw of Approval’ will quickly become the go-to shopping destination and resource for pet products curated by the animal brand audiences love and trust.”

Each product that receives a “Paw of Approval” from The Dodo will receive an article write-up on thedodo.com. Consumers are encouraged to submit products for review via email or Instagram, using the hashtag #dodopaw.
