CHICAGO — JBT Corporation announced March 2 it has acquired AutoCoding Systems Ltd, a software solutions provider for automated end-of-line packaging processes.

The acquisition expands JBT’s packaging line equipment offerings, including coding and label inspection and verification capabilities.

"AutoCoding's offering embodies JBT's broader mission to make better use of the world's precious resources by providing a solution that substantially enhances our customers' success,” said Brian Deck, president and chief executive officer of JBT. “AutoCoding helps its customers reduce food waste, ensure complete and accurate food packaging information, and facilitate traceability and food safety. The acquisition also expands our capabilities in the large and growing global market for in-line coding and inspection solutions, which includes hardware and software for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical customers."

AutoCoding offers a centralized command software that integrates and automates end-of-line processes, such as coders, scanners, labelers and checkweighers. The solution reduces the need for manual inspection and configuration downtime. This offering also complements JBT’s tray sealing equipment that begins the end-of-line process.

AutoCoding Systems is based in Runcorn, United Kingdom. The company also operates in the United States and Australia, and generates roughly $7 million in annual revenue, according to JBT.

JBT serves the food and beverage processing industry, including pet food processors, with focus on proteins, liquid foods and automated system solutions. The company employs approximately 6,200 people in its sales, service, manufacturing and sourcing operations spanning 25 countries.
