ADRIAN, MICH. — WACKER BIOSOLUTIONS, a global nutraceutical and food ingredient supplier, announced Jan. 12 it will venture into the pet nutrition space by offering its bioactive ingredients for pet supplement formulations.
The company’s CAVAMAX® cyclodextrins can help mask unwanted odors and flavors, supporting a palatable pet supplement formulation. Many plant extracts and other functional ingredients used in pet supplements can have a bitter or unpleasant aftertaste or smell, which can be off-putting to the animal.
WACKER also offers FERMOPURE® L-cysteine and L-cystine, which are plant-based nutrients meant to improve palatability.
The company said its pet supplement ingredients are dose-efficient, vegan-friendly and can be used in a variety of applications, including liquids, chews, kibbles, tablets and powders.
The company’s curcumin and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) products are commonly used in human supplements and provide a myriad of health benefits. Curcumin has been shown to support joint health, while CoQ10 can support cardiovascular health, WACKER reported.
The company works to provide bioavailable nutraceutical ingredients. Its proprietary curcumin, CAVACURMIN®, offers nearly 40 times the bioavailability of ordinary curcumin, while its CAVAQ10® provides 18 times the bioavailability of normal CoQ10.
