AUSTIN, TEXAS — A company based in Austin launched Aug. 13 with its first line of breed-specific health supplements for dogs. The company, WoofWell, has officially entered the market after more than a year of research and product development.

WoofWell coordinated with veterinarians and the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) to develop and ensure quality for each of its breed-specific formulations. The company achieved the NASC Quality Seal for these products, a mark of high manufacturing and quality standards in the supplement industry.

This comes as the market for solutions-based pet products surges and pet parents more often factor in specific health needs and risks into their purchasing decisions for pet food, treats and supplements alike.

“No two breeds of dogs have the same exact health requirements,” said Heather Simon, founder of WoofWell. “Some breeds are more prone to seasonal allergies than others. Some breeds are more at risk of age-related joint mobility issues. And some breeds are at higher risk than others for various eye health issues. Supplements that are made for ‘all dogs’ can’t possibly contain the precise ingredients in the exact dosages needed for a specific breed.”

WoofWell’s breed-specific supplements are currently available for German shepherds, French bulldogs, golden retrievers and Yorkshire terriers. All four formulas include broad-spectrum hemp oil as an active ingredient, are manufactured in the United States, and are free form corn, wheat, artificial ingredients or preservatives.

“As life-long dog owners and dog lovers, we saw an opportunity to create a first-in-class line of superior health supplements that are both uniquely formulated for the specific health needs of individual dog breeds, and that address the most common multiple health concerns of those breeds in a single soft-chew supplement,” Simon added.

The company’s supplements for German shepherds are formulated to target mobility and relieve joint stiffness, as well as support eye function and long-term ocular health, WoofWell said. Active ingredients include glucosamine, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), chondroitin sulfate, various omega-3 fatty acids, hyaluronic acid, coQ10, lutein and broad-spectrum hemp oil.

The company’s French bulldog supplements are meant to support the immune system, regulate seasonal allergies and maintain healthy vision. Active ingredients include turmeric, various omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, quercetin, L-theanine, hyaluronic acid, lutein, zinc and broad-spectrum hemp oil.

For golden retrievers, WoofWell’s formula is geared to support mobility and joint health, as well as support normal immune function and histamine levels. Active ingredients include glucosamine from shrimp and crap proteins, MSM, chondroitin sulfate, various omega-3 fatty acids, L-theanine, hyaluronic acid and broad-spectrum hemp oil.

The company’s supplements for Yorkshire terriers aim to support immune system function, healthy histamine levels, regulate allergies and support mobility. Active ingredients include glucosamine from shrimp and crab proteins, MSM, chondroitin sulfate, various omega-3 fatty acids, turmeric, quercetin, L-theanine and broad-spectrum hemp oil.

Formulations for other dog breeds are being developed. WoofWell expects to launch additional breed-specific supplements in the coming months. The company also expects to partner with pet retailers and distributors to make its breed-specific supplements available across the United States.

WoofWell is owned by JC Media, LLC, a media company specializing in marketing and advertising.
