CINCINNATI — ProAmpac, a flexible packaging company, announced March 24 it has developed a premium recyclable quad-seal package in partnership with High Island Organics. The package was designed for High Island Organics’ new organic fertilizer but can also be used for dry pet food and treat products, as well as snack, confectionery and frozen food products.

“The ability to be among the first in the industry to design a quad-seal bag that provides both durability and sustainability without sacrificing one for the other, makes ProActive Recyclable QUADFLEX a remarkable innovation,” said Maria Halford, vice president of global marketing for ProAmpac.

“We are excited that our latest innovation in sustainable packaging is able to fill an existing gap in the marketplace to meet the growing demand for greener solutions,” she added.

The solution, QUADFLEX, is part of ProAmpac’s ProActive Sustainability line. It is offered in several sizes in flat bottom variations, as well as pinch and fold-over bottom styles. The packaging solution can also be paired with ProAmpac’s Signature Surfaces to enhance on-shelf appearance.

The package can include a resealable zipper to preserve product freshness and offer convenience. QUADFLEX products have the option to include a see-through window for product visibility.

“This was an exciting project to work on. One of the key challenges we faced was how to create a recyclable structure that met seal strength requirements and provided the barrier needed to lock in product freshness," stated Vance Fortenberry, director of product development for ProAmpac.

The polyethylene material used in QUADFLEX is eligible for return-to-store recycling programs.
