HARTSVILLE, S.C. — Global packaging company Sonoco announced Sept. 23 it has added a new sustainable flexible option to its EnviroSense™ portfolio. The new packaging, EnviroFlex™ PE, is made from polyethylene-based material and can be recycled along with used grocery bags.

The sustainable packaging is applicable for pet food and treat products, as well as cookies and crackers, confections, dry foods, personal care items and other consumer packaged goods.

EnviroFlex PE can be run on both vertical and horizontal form/fill/seal systems, according to Sonoco, and is also available in premade pouches.

“We are very pleased to introduce EnviroFlex PE as the latest addition to our diverse portfolio of EnviroSense packaging options,” said Rodger Fuller, senior VP of global consumer packaging, display and packaging and protective solutions at Sonoco. “EnviroFlex PE is another step toward meeting the demand for sustainable flexible packaging that’s easy to recycle.”

Sonoco’s EnviroSense portfolio includes sustainable packaging solutions that meet ISO14021 and FTC regulations. The company is exhibiting the portfolio, including EnviroFlex PE, at PACK EXPO in Las Vegas through Sept 25 at booth #6106.
